I’ve ridden my new bike almost every day since I received it the beginning of July, and it’s been an absolute pleasure. I use it for my daily commute (only 4 miles one way) as well as most of my errands, and I use the Topeak rear rack to carry everything. It’s a very comfortable bike, and the 8-speed range is perfect for my area where it’s relatively flat with a few small hills here and there. It’s a well built bicycle, with quality components that are simple and robust.
Brooklyn Bicycle Co. was an absolute pleasure to purchase from as well. Everyone I interacted with was very helpful and accommodating. The bike shipped much quicker than I anticipated, and my local bike shop had it ready to go days before I anticipated (less than 5 business days from order confirmation to riding it home!).
I’ll definitely be recommending Brooklyn Bicycle Co. from here on out.
Our experience buying this bike and the bike itself were both really good. The bike was shipped to our local bike shop quickly and without a hitch. The bike itself is just beautiful. We bought this for an 11 year old girl. She loved it right away.
I love this bike! It ride’s so smooth. It’s my first commuter. The gears shift like butter. It’s so comfortable. It shipped so quickly and was perfect from the start. We bought 2 and have already put about 30 miles on them. Taking them to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard this weekend for my birthday. Everyone loves the color and the look. I couldn’t be happier.
I am very happy with my Bedford 8 speed! Beautiful bike that came just as pictured. Quality of seat and handle bars are very good. The seat is also very comfortable. I use the bike for my commute (10 miles one way). I’m a recreational biker but the 8 speed does wonders for my commute to make it an east ride. Not the lightest bike, but for an 8 speed sleek bike, not bad in weight-I’m still able to carry it up and down short flights of stairs without hassle. Assembly and delivery to my door were so easy and a huge reason why I purchased this bike. Only hassle was my service delivered without assessing my height. But was easy to find a bike shop to adjust for me. Other bike companies tack on a large fee for the assembly for an already expensive bike, and even then they required pick up. Overall very happy with price point for the comfort, ride quality, aesthetic, and easy delivery experience.
The Virginia countryside is not normally the playground of Brooklyn bicycles. But my Franklin does well here after a few minor modifications and add-ons. With a quill stem (silver, of course) allowing for a lower handlebar, this step-through moves at a good clip, even when there's a headwind. It's also the kind of bike you can't just park and walk away from. After a few steps, you have to turn around and give it an admiring look. It's that stylish. Great job, Brooklyn!
This is an incredible bike. The fit is perfect and I look forward to riding for many miles. I always struggle with hand pain so I did add the upgraded seat and swept back handle bars. They were both great additions that allowed me to be more upright. The color is beautiful as you can tell in the reference photo. I appreciated the customer service and quick shipping of the bike. I would highly recommend this bike and this company.
After enjoying my Roebling for about 4 years now, I decided I wanted something more laid back and fun to ride. I chose the Franklin 8-speed because of the design and upright handle bars. The minute I test rode it at my local bike shop, I knew this was the one! The price point is reasonable for what you're getting, its comfortable, stylish and its quality built. I'm debating on whether I should keep my Roebling because it's also a great bike, but more for city commuting.
I bought this set for a new bike, but at the same time was shopping around for lights for my kid's school commuter bike. Now I wish the lights on my other bikes would "accidentally" fall off so I can replace them all with this set. For starters, they're crazy-bright, and probably the brightest I've ever seen at this price point. All of the rechargeable (USB) lights with at least 9 hours of run time started at $40 at the big box stores (and, to my uncalibrated eyeballs, the Uptown lights were brighter than everything in the $40-60 price range). Also important, the clip and mounting straps are rock solid. The clip has a rubber coating that makes it non-slip, so I feel confident using the mounting tabs on my backpack without worrying about a pothole sending the light flying. If you are mounting it to a tube or bike rack, the silicone straps are beefy and provide a tight grip.
Pros: • brightness • price point • construction and manufacturing • waterproof • adjustable mounting system • run-time of 9 hours in blinking mode
Cons: • If you are mounting the lights to a bike rack with very skinny tubing, the straps will hold the light in place but it might jostle around if you're riding rough roads. You're not going to lose the light, but you might have to re-aim it from time to time. I'm thinking maybe some plumber's tape on the rack might give the mounting straps a little more bite. Also, it would be nice if more lights had a permanent attachment option, but everything seems to be clips and straps these days.
My first Brooklyn Bicycle and I love it so far. Can’t wait to ride it again when the weather gets warmer
Got this bike last month and honestly it's so great! I got the beautiful seaglass color! I don't know much about bikes but Ryan was super helpful at making sure I found the right one down to what I should feel the best seat height for me would be. Pickup was super easy! They have a partnership with Silk Roads so it was great to be able to pick up my already assembled bike. 10/10 would recommend this bike to anyone who is just looking for a cute commuter style bike!
We love our new bikes. The matte denim paint and silver trim looks so good in person. Excellent build quality, good components, fun to ride, and great customer service from Brooklyn Bicycle Co.
My wife and I had been contemplating buying new bikes for a few years. After some pretty extensive reading and searching, we decided on the Lorimer and Roebling models. I had some anxiety about ordering a bike online and very nearly pulled the trigger on an REI Co-op bike, but I could not be more satisfied with my decision to go with Brooklyn. First the process - it was exactly as advertised. Online chat answered a few questions for me and was very helpful. Once ordered, I had made a mistake in buying components (added a chainguard I didn't need). They e-mailed me over a holiday weekend to check on it, got it corrected for me, and refunded all by the next business day. I also decided last minute to switch the rack I purchased and they made that adjustment for me as well. Notifications when it shipped and told me the bike shop it would be at. Two weeks later I got an e-mail that it was ready. The assembly was nearly flawless (a loose bolt on the rack caused it to slide during first use, but it was easily remedied). As for the bike itself, I love it. Aesthetically, it's awesome. These bikes ooze cool. The logo, the matte paint, the trim, everything is beautiful. It's a ton of fun to ride. Between the customer service and the quality, I don't think you can do any better.
I've been riding this kind of city bike for 20 years (Toronto and other places) and this bike is excellent. I like steel frames for the bit of butter you get in the ride, but this one has a smoother ride than others I've had. (And still have). I think it might be the frame geometry. It has a bit longer wheel base than my other bikes, and I think that may be what has improved ride quality. I have a similar bike in Toronto but with a 7 speed Shimano internal hub, and I wasn't sure if 3 speeds would be enough. But it is! In fact I wouldn't want more. One other reviewer said he put a smaller cog on the back to change the gear ratio. While the stock set-up is I'm sure right for most riders, I'm a big fit guy and I think I will do the same at some stage, as I'm cruising too easily in third gear and could use more speed. Another thing I appreciate about the bike is the comfortable seat and grips. I was thinking of doing a Brooks saddle, but not sure that will be necessary. Also the grips are great - vegan leather? i think that means fake leather, but it's really good fake leather. The grips have a little cushioning underneath which really makes them comfortable. The twist shifter is great too - very smart for quick shifting in the city to get out of somebodies way. This is a well thought out bike and great value. I only wish there had been a black one available. I was impatient so went with the white one in stock at the showroom in Brooklyn (which was an enjoyable visit in itself). But the ivory colour is growing on me... Anyway, exceeds expectations on all levels. Thank you.
This gorgeous beauty gives me serious riding! Second ride on it was over 15 miles and my body (including my seat) loved it!! Performance and comfort on the cutest frame ever!!!!!! Thanks, BBC!!! It’s a 5-heart rating!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was not so sure about getting a fixie bike but this ride is very smooth and comfortable even though I was out of shape
I'm happy
Also the team was very patient and kind while helping me figure out the model that was best for me.
Have been using my new bike almost every day for the last two weeks. Am very happy with it. It’s a great combination of function and aesthetics. The team was helpful recommending accessories, and the process of having it sent to a local shop was very easy. Five stars all around.
Thank you for sharing Angelica. We're thrilled you are loving your Franklin 3 and we appreciate you acknowledging your experience with the team. -Ryan Zagata
I've had my lights for several months now and they are fantastic. They're bright, easy to change between modes, and installation was a breeze. Buying a couple sets for stocking stuffers; these make a great gift!
Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you're happy with the Uptown USB Rechargeable Bike Lights - they're definitely a great gift! -Ryan Zagata
Received these the next day. They feel durable and I like that they came with an extra mounting strap. They are also blindingly bright.
Thanks for sharing Al. Please avoid staring directly into those lights. -Ryan Zagata
Loving the Roebling so far! It looks awesome, rides super smooth and it's fast! My wife is complaining because she can't keep up with me like she could with my old bike. Lol
Thanks for sharing. While we aren't advocates of leaving your spouse behind, we'll be happy to shoulder the blame in this instance if it keeps the relationship intact. -Ryan Zagata
