Amazing !! Love my new wheels

Large is a good size and frame for someone who is 5’ 10” or taller.

Thanks so much for sharing Chintan. We're glad you're enjoying your Bedford 3. -Ryan Zagata

Really nice bike - watch the sizing and switch the saddle

Well built, smooth riding fast bike. My only comment is to pay a lot of attention - a lot - to the sizing. I'm 5'10 and went with a medium, and probably should have gone with a small. It rides great, and looks great. I went with the swept back bars, which are comfortable to ride. Also, the saddle, which looks great, is pretty uncomfortable. I grabbed a reasonably priced (similar looking) alternative on Amazon with springs/suspension, was really necessary for me to have a comfortable ride. Really responsive company, with attentive customer service. Get in touch with them with questions/concerns, they're super helpful.

Thanks so much for sharing Patrick. We're glad you're enjoying your Bedford. With regards to sizing, it all depends on the corresponding inseam. Personally speaking, I'm an inch taller than you and prefer the large but that's due to my 32' inseam. With regards to saddles, frankly speaking, that's one of the hardest parts of the bike to get right because every rider has a different bottom and a different tolerance for discomfort. We put our best foot forward and win most of the time but as you shared, swapping out a saddle is arguably the easiest change to a bike so we're thrilled you found one that worked. Thanks again for sharing your feedback and the photo. -Ryan Zagata

Happy New Cyclist

I got into cycling recently and after doing lots of research I decided to go with the Bedford 3. The process couldn't have been easier to pick up the bike from the bike shop (less than a week after I ordered it!), and I've loved riding it around DC. It's far more comfortable than some of the bikes I tried when I first started, and I really like how the internal gear hub works. And to cap it all off, I absolutely love the green color. Thanks Brooklyn Bicycle Co!

Thanks so much for sharing John. We're thrilled you're enjoying your Bedford 3. We'll keep our eyes peeled the next time we're in DC. -Ryan Zagata

Great bike

I got this bike for myself (5'7, opted for a small) and it's a great bike. It came within two weeks of ordering fully assembled and rides really smoothly and is a comfortable ride going up hills. Really recommend this bike.

Thanks for sharing your feedback Robert. We're delighted that you're enjoying your Bedford 7 and appreciate your recommendation. -Ryan Zagata

New Cyclist Loving My Bedford 3

Let me start by saying the process of learning about the differences in the types of bikes and which would be best for my needs was exceptional with Danielle. Thank you for talking me into the Bedford 3!! I would have never made it up the huge hill by my house in those first few weeks with a fixie. Danielle helped me ensure I got the right size and I was able to try the bikes out to make sure I made the right call. The weight of the frame and size of tires made the Bedford 3 a better fit for me. I love my double wall tires! I don’t get flats like some other friends do. Thanks to Danielle again for managing my order when the green I wanted was out of stock, still getting me on the road when I wanted and onto a bike that I love more than I could have imagined! You knew my cyclist self better than I could. The Ivory Bedford 3 is perfect! I still love it 2 months in.

Thanks Angelique for taking the share your thoughts on the bike as well as your experience with Danielle. It means a lot to the team to have there efforts acknowledged. -Ryan Zagata

WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN BROOKLYN?

What Are the Differences Between the Franklin and Willow Step-through Models?

Looking at the Franklin and Willow, but not quite sure how the models compare? No worries – we get this question a lot, so we’ve put together a quick rundown on what sets these models apart!

#TLDR (AKA Too Long Didn't Read)? Here's a Quick Summary:

 SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES
FRAME GEOMETRY HANDLEBARS
COLOR-MATCHED FENDERS & CHAINGUARD SADDLE
3-SPEED INTERNAL GEARING GRIPS
KICKSTAND INCLUDED TIRE COLOR
REAR CARRIER
CHAIN COATING
7-SPEED GEARING
FRAME MATERIALS

1. HANDLEBARS

This is probably the most notable difference between our step-through models. With the Willow featuring our Swept-Back Handlebars. This means a much more upright (European-style) riding position (think sitting in a chair) that is well suited for leisurely riding.

The Franklin models feature our Relaxed Ride Handlebars, which are slightly more aggressive and ideal for both commuting and leisurely weekend rides.

2. TIRES

The Willow comes with cream tires, whereas the Franklin sports black tires. Do note that regardless of color, all our tires offer an added layer of puncture resistance.

3. ACCESSORIES

The Willow is our premium model and includes a rear carrier, as well as an upgraded sprung saddle and grip set from Selle Royal’s Royalgel™ line.

The Franklin features Selle Royal Vegan Leather saddle and grips. Please note that this bike does not come with a rear carrier. If you would like to purchase a rear carrier for this model, you will need a 26” carrier for the S/M Franklin and a 700C carrier for the Large Franklin model.

Both models come with color matched fenders and chainguard, as well as a kickstand.

4. RUST-PROHIBITIVE COATING & GEARING

As our signature model, the Willow has a few additional premium features including a rust-prohibitive coating on the chain and internal gearing resulting in less maintenance and more riding.

The Franklin 3 model includes internal gearing (just like the Willow), whereas the Franklin 7 has an external 7-Speed derailleur.

5. FRAME MATERIALS

On a more technical note – the geometry on both frames is identical, however the Franklin and Willow models are made from different materials. Are you currently thinking “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BIKES!!”? Do not fret – we totally get it! Take a breath and read on…

The Willow frame is made with double-butted 4130 Chromoly Steel. We use a stronger grade of steel, which allows us to use thinner tubing resulting in a lighter frame.

The Franklin frame is crafted with specially engineered high-tensile steel. What does this mean? We are able to offer a similar bike of a more moderate price point. Our Franklin model is the most economical step-through model in our portfolio of bikes (as well as a team favorite)!

Still have questions on sizing (or anything else)? Email us or schedule a concierge call with our team. We’d love to help!

Don’t forget: All of our bikes include Free Shipping & Professional Assembly.
