We recommend sizing down if you're in between sizes. Have a question on sizing? Check our bicycle sizing guide by clicking here.
The MOST IMPORTANT measurement when sizing a bike is your inseam length.
Don't base your inseam simply on your jean size.
The more precise, the better.
1. Stand with your back against a wall and spread your feet 6-8" apart.
2. Place a book between your legs and up against the wall, spine up; raise it until snug against your crotch (this mimics your bike seat).
3. Have another person measure from the top of the book (spine) down to the floor.
The Lorimer Embraces Unforeseen Challenges
"The Lorimer can be at once your fitness, commuter, city, and flat-bar road bike."
Easy to Buy, Exceptional Service
"By all accounts, buying a Brooklyn online is a pleasant experience."
Despite having a couple bikes arrive with damage, the customer service at BB was great. When I finally received the bike, I was extremely disappointed with the bike shop chosen to assemble the bike. They were zero percent interested in helping me and when I indicated that I was there to pick up the bike, the rolled it up and walked off. No help to the car or anything and given the shop had stairs and no automatic doors, I had a hard time getting to the car. Even when I asked about putting the rack on, they quoted an exorbitant price which was essentially asking me to leave. Needless to say, once I found the appropriate allen wrench, I had to adjust everything myself since the seat was way too high and the handle bars weren’t aligned. Accessories were a breeze to install once I looked up online which makes the bike shop quote truly insulting for a 5 min job (4 of which was finding the wrench).
I am 5’2” and full figured and this bike was a great match for me once I made the adjustments. I ride around my moderately hilly neighborhood and round trip to the tennis courts.
I recommend the bike but take pause on whether I would want to go through that experience again. I was hesitant to purchase a bike online and due to that shop, it was with good reason.
I started thinking about getting a bike back in February then rented one from my local bike shop to get a feel for riding on NY streets. After the rental, I knew I wanted one of my own but had no clue which would be right for me. I did a bunch of research and kept coming back to Brooklyn Bicycle. By the time I was ready to make a decision, COVID happened and all of the shops closed to non-essential services. I requested a virtual chat late one night and Ryan hopped on a call with me the next day! He answered every question I had with patience and listened to my needs. I bought the Lorimer and I cannot stop riding it! On the rare occasion that I’m not riding, I’m thinking about the next time I can. It’s smooth, not super heavy and fits me perfectly which was difficult to find at 5 feet. I absolutely love it and cannot speak highly enough about Ryan and his team.
Loved my interaction with the company - they helped me find the right size and seemed to care about giving customers individualized attention. The bike is adorable and fun to ride. I popped a baby bike seat on the back and my daughter and I have a great time riding around the neighborhood. I also plan to use it to commute to work 6 miles away once telecommuting tapers off.
Finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase my first bike...and it was everything I ever wanted and imagined! The ride is smooth and super comfy. I’m also not that tall..so the XS was perfect for my 5’ structure. Brooklyn Bicycle Co was very prompt in answering my questions and with the curbside delivery. I ordered my bike and got it assembled and delivered the next day! I was also able to switch out some accessories and had it put in during the assembly. Thanks Brooklyn Bike Co!
