It's that simple!
This is not just a bike for urban riders--I use this in Rowayton, CT to get to the beach, run an errand, or go see a friend. The ride is terrific and the front rack easily holds a Yeti cooler.
I have been given a number of great compliments on the style. My biggest compliment is that the folks at Brooklyn Bicycle Co. were easy to work with, answered all of my questions and made the process easy and fun. I am very happy with this ride!
I'm a Swede in my 40s. Grew up with three speeds. Rode some in spandex, but it never stuck. Was a messenger in Chicago. Was a bike mechanic for a bit. Bought my first high end Nexus hub bike in 1998, a Japanese market scoot that was stolen after 30,000 glorious miles. Loved it, it was my first taste of near zero maintenance cycling. Just get on and ride, rain, snow, cold or whatever. Wearing whatever. Just ride. I still wore kit from time to time for group rides with the shop, but quit doing that 7 years ago. I put flat pedals on my touring bike and I'd go out and ride and do things and shop. Hey, there's a watermelon stand the next county over! Ride forty miles in sandals and get a melon. Now I have a melon, and I somehow got fit too. That touring bike suffered a collision a couple years ago, and I had an empty place in my heart because a stylish, slightly weird, and imminently practical bike is something that costs a ton of money, and requires endless upgrades and customizing. Right?
Wrong. I got this Driggs a week ago and couldn't be happier. First of all--it looks great, a combination of American design cues, French porteur, and some English roadster for good measure. I overlayed the geometry on a bike from a company that makes lovely "country bikes", at 5X the price (albeit with fancier components, tubes, joinery, and paint) and it was eerily similar. Relaxed, but not stupid and ponderous. Long stays for rock steady handling in traffic and heel clearance for panniers and big feet. The wheels have the perfect double wall strong rims with a little retro groove, the proper amount of spokes, and were tensioned well. The bars are the perfect curve. No really, I like them better than the Nitto Albatross which are 5x the price. Gear ratios are perfect. Pedal choice is perfect. Rack is perfect...but could use a light bracket. ;-) Fenders are mounted so well it makes me weep and don't rattle AT ALL.
Everyone needs a Driggs. It's deceptively sophisticated perfe...
Best Bike I ever owned! Easy to ride, 3 speeds is all you need. A real head turner!
Awesome bike and amazing customer service. Every time I had a question and called they were extremely nice and helpful!
There is little to say that hasn’t already been said. The bikes are beautiful, tasteful, and very well made. They get fun attention and are a joy to ride. There was a small issue with shipping but customer service was great and the managed the issue quickly and with courtesy.
