Best Commuter Bike on the market!!!

After a 15+ minute phone call with the Brooklyn Bike Co. and their staff I was sold! I had already done my research so I knew they had a wonderful product but the customer service and help I received actually made me purchase quicker! I love my bike, love my accessories, and I loved the personal touch they offered me! Cheers to a great company, an incredible bike, and to treating customers how they should be treated! 10/10 - Highly recommend

She couldn’t be happier

My 5’5”’ wife wanted a new bike that was low-weight, just enough gear options to be helpful, had some cool factor. She is extremely happy with her new Bedford 7. Bike meets all her needs, service from the team at Brooklyn Bicycles was both genuine in advice and the personalised nature that you would get from a nearby corner store you lived across the road from. Great purchasing experience, highly recommended.

Thanks so much for sharing Rick. We're delighted that she's enjoying her Bedford. -Ryan Zagata

A few notes on my experience:
- From the start, the team at Brooklyn Bicycle Co. was awesome. I had a 15 minute phone call with them where we talked about the best bike for my needs & we talked about how the process works.

-The bike came quicker than planned (which was a nice surprise!)

- I love the bike itself. It rides super well and feels very high quality.

Would recommend to anyone! Thanks team!

PRETTY IN LOVE... the Bedford 7 is cute and classic - perfect for biking around town!

I just got the Bedford 7 a few weeks ago in Raw -- it's a really unique brownish grey which looks great with the leather handles and the Nantucket woven basket on the front! Not too girly, not too masculine. It rides really well, the handlebars are super comfortable -- not too upright but I don't have to crouch over the bike. I use it to cruise around town and it's just perfect! 10/10 would recommend.

Thanks so much for sharing Margie. We're certain it's a mutual affection between you and you're Bedford 7. -Ryan Zagata

this bike is great

I'm just a causal rider and this bike is great. the seven speeds are great for hills or bridges or when I ride farther than I should and am trying to get home. it shifts like a dream. it's also very pretty and very light. so easy to trek up and down the stairs.

Thanks for sharing Brian. We are glad to hear you're enjoying your Bedford 7 city bike. -Ryan Zagata

I love love LOVE my Bedford 7!

I looked for a new bike for a long time and after I narrowed it down to a few choices still spent a lot of time in the decision making process. I found Brooklyn Bikes when I was scouring the internet for commuter bikes that were either made in the US or at the very least addressed equity and ethics in their production line. I also wanted something affordable and with a good reputation regarding maintenance, and one that fit my aesthetic sensibilities. Initially I looked over the Bedford since I thought I ought to get a step-through frame due to my love of dresses, but I kept finding the bikes I was most interested in were diamond frames. So I bought a few Chub Rub shorts from Snag Tights, settled on the Bedford 7, and now am happily zipping around town on my Brooklyn Bike. The gear shifting is smooth and intuitive and just enough gears to get around town quickly and tackle hills. This bike is lightweight and manageable, the breaks feel very responsive and trustworthy. One of the best things was getting my new bike right before I got married this summer--my husband and I planned our honeymoon without a rental car, but took our bikes on the train to Oregon, then loaded up ourselves and our luggage on our bikes (I also got the rear rack with this in mind), and rode about 3 miles down the hilly coast line to our vacation rental. We used our bikes as our exclusive mode of transportation during our stay on the coast. I've never done something like that, but I had the time of my life and felt so capable on my bike. We had a magical trip and want to do it again. And my bike is now my preferred method of transportation at home in Montana. Plus, it's so handsome...

Thanks so much for sharing Ruhiyyih! We're thrilled that you're enjoying your Bedford 7. -Ryan Zagata

WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN BROOKLYN?

What Are the Differences Between the Franklin and Willow Step-through Models?

Looking at the Franklin and Willow, but not quite sure how the models compare? No worries – we get this question a lot, so we’ve put together a quick rundown on what sets these models apart!

#TLDR (AKA Too Long Didn't Read)? Here's a Quick Summary:

 SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES
FRAME GEOMETRY HANDLEBARS
COLOR-MATCHED FENDERS & CHAINGUARD SADDLE
3-SPEED INTERNAL GEARING GRIPS
KICKSTAND INCLUDED TIRE COLOR
REAR CARRIER
CHAIN COATING
7-SPEED GEARING
FRAME MATERIALS

1. HANDLEBARS

This is probably the most notable difference between our step-through models. With the Willow featuring our Swept-Back Handlebars. This means a much more upright (European-style) riding position (think sitting in a chair) that is well suited for leisurely riding.

The Franklin models feature our Relaxed Ride Handlebars, which are slightly more aggressive and ideal for both commuting and leisurely weekend rides.

2. TIRES

The Willow comes with cream tires, whereas the Franklin sports black tires. Do note that regardless of color, all our tires offer an added layer of puncture resistance.

3. ACCESSORIES

The Willow is our premium model and includes a rear carrier, as well as an upgraded sprung saddle and grip set from Selle Royal’s Royalgel™ line.

The Franklin features Selle Royal Vegan Leather saddle and grips. Please note that this bike does not come with a rear carrier. If you would like to purchase a rear carrier for this model, you will need a 26” carrier for the S/M Franklin and a 700C carrier for the Large Franklin model.

Both models come with color matched fenders and chainguard, as well as a kickstand.

4. RUST-PROHIBITIVE COATING & GEARING

As our signature model, the Willow has a few additional premium features including a rust-prohibitive coating on the chain and internal gearing resulting in less maintenance and more riding.

The Franklin 3 model includes internal gearing (just like the Willow), whereas the Franklin 7 has an external 7-Speed derailleur.

5. FRAME MATERIALS

On a more technical note – the geometry on both frames is identical, however the Franklin and Willow models are made from different materials. Are you currently thinking “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BIKES!!”? Do not fret – we totally get it! Take a breath and read on…

The Willow frame is made with double-butted 4130 Chromoly Steel. We use a stronger grade of steel, which allows us to use thinner tubing resulting in a lighter frame.

The Franklin frame is crafted with specially engineered high-tensile steel. What does this mean? We are able to offer a similar bike of a more moderate price point. Our Franklin model is the most economical step-through model in our portfolio of bikes (as well as a team favorite)!
