Ultra-lightweight double-butted 4130 Chromoly frame for light, yet absorbent ride
Brooklyn bicycle co has reignited my love for biking. I have purchased my second Willow recently. I keep one at the cabin and one in the city for errands and joy riding. So very comfortable and low maintenance, pure joy!
After years of high maintenance road bikes and mountain bikes that caused sore wrists, firearms and back, the Willow is so much more comfortable. Sitting upright, you can feel the breeze and enjoy the view way better than the hunched over posture of my other bikes.
The toughest part was choosing a color!
I commuted in through Old Town Alexandria this morning and it was so SIMPLE. No kit,no special shoes,no sense of urgency -- must go fast syndrome inherent on a road bike. In fact, I simply could not go fast. The gearing and geometry insisted I stay cool, you know, ask yourself, "What would Mary Poppins do?". Ha ha ha. She would sit bolt upright, smile, and simple move forward. That is exactly what I did. Wonderful!
When I got to work, I was not sweaty at all. I was not in hurry to get in the office and change clothes before my first meeting. I just locked her up, pulled my bags out of the basket panniers I installed, and strolled on in.
About the bike. That red is like 'bike under the Christmas Tree' red. Perfect. The frame is so well built. My husband and I were, frankly, shocked. I love the head-badge (nice touch). I love the minimalist paint logo - small white Brooklyn on down tube. The rack is outstanding. And, that saddle! Royal Selle does it again. Great choice Ryan. No pain at all, even in street clothes. Here is a bonus: I was thinking about getting another Carradice (big fan) saddlebag. Oh, but then I thought, that saddle won't have loops. I looked. It does! Whaaaat?! Unheard of these days. No Brooks saddle needed. Brown is the best color too. The grips are cool. It shifts like a champ.
The way I had that bike rolling down the road in 48 hours was unbelievable. Big Wheel hooked me up and built it last Friday. I rode it home that afternoon. They made sure I knew what I was doing and that the bike fit. They said I could come in anytime for support.
In summary, GREAT JOB BROOKLYN BICYLCES!
This was a gift for my 13 year old daughter. I'm the avid road cyclist in the family so I was tasked with finding the right bike for her. My bikes are built for long, spirited rides, so I wasn't sure what to expect from a cool "city bike" company. I could not be more pleased though. The transaction was seamless, communication prompt and professional, and the bike itself is just fantastic. It's comfortable, fun to ride and ooozes style. The build quality is surprisingly nice also - they really did it right. If you are shopping for this type of ride, I wouldn't think twice about buying from Brooklyn Bicycle Co.
It took patience to find a step through frame that fit both me and my wife. We added a quick release for the seat and a basket onto the rack to make sharing and commuting simple. One of us can ride to school with our son in the morning and the other rides home with him in the afternoon.
(The granny gear is still tough on the Kansas City hills, but we manage).
Love this bike - best I've ever ridden!
