The Wythe is Brooklyn Bicycle Co.'s purest expression of city cycling. With a single gear ratio and a flip-flop hub that lets you switch between fixed-gear and freewheel riding, it strips away every unnecessary component so you can focus on the road ahead. The lightweight Chromoly steel frame absorbs road vibrations while keeping the bike easy to carry up a flight of stairs. Puncture-resistant tires shrug off glass and debris so flat tires never make you late. A classic riser bar puts you in a comfortable, upright position for weaving through traffic. Whether you are commuting across downtown or locking up outside the corner coffee shop, the Wythe delivers reliable, low-maintenance transportation that looks sharp doing it. Available in multiple colorways to match your style.

Wythe Fixie

Just picked up my Wythe 2 days ago. Love it. Customer service from the purchase to the (fast) delivery, was outstanding. Brooklyn went above and beyond to
fulfill my every expectation. The bike: Fast, quiet, solid! I also indulged a few upgrades from Brooklyn and a few my own to make it "my bike".
I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality without dropping thousands for sure. Incredible bicycle for the money. Thanks guys.

Thanks Michael. Truly appreciate your thorough feedback on both our Wythe fixie bike and your experience with our brand. Thanks also for the great photo. -Ryan Zagata

Excellent Fixie at a Good Price

This is a solid bike. The geometry is spot on for a city commuter, with no toe overlap even on a small frame, and the ride quality is very good with the high grade steel used. The quality of the bike is really a step above what you will find from other companies in this price range. The frame is well made, the paint is nice and even, and the component spec is very good with quality parts throughout. Very satisfied.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback Rich. We appreciate you pointing out some of the highlights of the bike. -Ryan Zagata

Worth the wait!

We're one of many who hopped onto the biking bandwagon during this Pandemic period and couldn't be happier with our new mode of transport and exercise. Despite a longer than usual wait time, we were in touch with Kimberly from Customer Service who did an incredible job relaying all the updates and responding to each of our notes with care and empathy. Our bikes are gorgeous and exactly as we envisioned them. Lightweight too which is key for a 3rd-floor walkup. The mud and puddles here in wet NC don't mesh with the white wheels ;-) but a bike is meant to be ridden, right? Thank you Brooklyn Bicycle!

Thanks so much for sharing Kristin. We're thrilled you're enjoying your bikes. -Ryan Zagata

Decent quality basic commuter bike, but should have better components for the price

I was only able to test this bike on my commute to San Francisco a few times before the lockdown, but it's been fun to ride around town to get out of the house while working from home. Overall, it the ride is nimble and solid and handles well in traffic. A little worried about how the skinny tires will handle wet roads and rough pavement. The gearing allows you to quickly get up to speed from a stop, but tops out a little too quickly on even a slight decline.

I eventually was able to tweak the bike to a comfortable state. I immediately replaced the quill stem with one that puts the handle bars in a more upright riding position. I'm just shy of 6' with a 32" pant inseam, and the stock stem on the Large stretched me out uncomfortably far over the handlebars. I also threw on a skinnier seat to replace the large, ugly stock one.

The pedals are low-quality stamped metal affairs that I wish were nicer forged platforms like the ones I have on my Brilliant L Train. Overall, it works well enough for its intended purpose and the core product is solid, but I was hoping for better quality components for the price.

Pros:
-Smooth-riding, lightweight frame
-Support was quick to reply and answered all of my questions
-Great delivery and assembly process (appreciate Brooklyn supporting local bike shops)

Cons:
-Low-quality seat, pedals
-Wish it had braze-ons for fenders
-Depending on your size and preferences, aggressive stem angle might be uncomfortable
-Expected more for $500 from an online brand

Thanks so much for sharing Jeff. While we are glad you are getting first-hand experience with how lightweight the Wythe is, we certainly wish you had taken advantage of our concierge program and reached out to us prior to purchasing. Your feedback and the corresponding photo suggest you wanted an upright ride with a wider gearing range and wider tires. Our Bedford model fits the bill exactly and we would have encouraged you to move in that direction and I suspect you'd be more delighted as that's the bike you're describing in your review. Thanks again. -Ryan Zagata

Best bike for causal bike rides with kids!

I pull a bike trailer with 2 kids about 60lbs, it’s the highlight of our day! And it’s a beautiful bike and my basket is as functional as it is attractive. My kids (and me) are so happy when we are out on this bike! Game changer! Also have the black helmet and it’s a great fit and style for adults.

Thank you for sharing Alissa. It sounds like you're pulling some fun cargo. Glad you're enjoying your Wythe. -Ryan Zagata

Wythe Bicycle in Black Matte!

I purchased the Wythe Bicycle in matte black for my boyfriend for Christmas. Brooklyn Bicycle Co., Ryan, + his team were an absolute delight to deal with, addressing all of my inane questions quickly and enthusiastically. The bike was shipped to New Orleans quickly and their affiliated local shop assembled it beautifully. The bike is stunning in person, super light (I'm a teenie human and had no problem throwing it over my shoulder and into the back of an SUV when I picked it up), and my boyfriend is in love with it. 10/10 would recommend this bicycle and Brooklyn Bicycle Co.

Sayde - thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and we're glad the bike was a hit with your boyfriend. -Ryan Zagata

Dark as night, fast as light!

I waited for this bike in what seemed like forever. But it was worth it. The small size was out of stock at the time and I had contacted the company via email. Ryan responded right away and I was able to lock in a deal once they had restocked. The process took about one month. It wasn't a fault of their own but through the success and popularity of this bike, some things were worth waiting for. I took this bad boy out in Downtown Los Angeles and did it perform well. The bike was responsive, light and damn near outshined (despite it's matted finish) most of the riders on the street. I love the bike.

RJ - thanks so much for sharing the photo and for your patience. The popularity of the Wythe has exceeded our expectations so there's occasional availability outages. Glad you stuck with us. -Ryan Zagata

Great bike, great service

This is a very solid, fast and good looking bike and at an amazing price. I bought it for my office to get around downtown for errands and meetings to avoid parking and traffic. It is easy to ride, quick and gets lots of compliments on its fine lines. Ordering the bike on line was easy and the assembly at my local bike shop was fast and convenient, no issues at all. Customer service was great from Brooklyn - Jodene - thanks for all the help; lots of good communications and fast responses. Glad I decided on a Brooklyn bike, you will be too!

Thanks Dan - glad you were able to experience how great our team is and glad you're enjoying your single speed bike. -Ryan Zagata

Have Questions?
We Have Answers.

Get quick answers to your most common questions from sizing to accessorizing.

What is a fixie bike?

A fixie bike originally referred to a bicycle with a fixed-gear drivetrain—no coasting, pure simplicity. Today, "fixie" transcends fixed-gear alone, encompassing sleek, single-speed bikes featuring track-inspired frames and riser bars. Fixie bikes are a way to experience riding at its purist.

What is chromoly steel?

Chromoly (short for chromium-molybdenum) is a premium, lighter grade of steel prized by cyclists. It retains steel's legendary durability and shock absorption while shedding unnecessary weight—giving you a smoother, lighter, and more responsive ride.

How do I ensure my bike is set up in freewheel mode, not fixed gear?

Not to worry, by default the Wythe will come set up in the freewheel. If you'd prefer it be set to fixed gear, please contact us prior to your order shipping.

Does the Wythe fixie come with brakes?

Of course! We wouldn't ever do anything to compromise your safety so rest assured, the Wythe comes equipped with front and rear caliper brakes.

What are the advantages of a fixie bike?

Fixie bikes are lightweight. This is one of the most obvious benefits of a fixie. Due to the absence of a derailleur, levers, a cassette, and brake components, the bike drops a significant amount of weight. A fixed-gear bike typically weighs less than its geared counterpart.
