Have Fixie Bike Questions?
We've got answers. Fixie bikes aren't for everyone but when you know, you know.
What is a fixie bike?
A fixie bike originally referred to a bicycle with a fixed-gear drivetrain—no coasting, pure simplicity. Today, "fixie" transcends fixed-gear alone, encompassing sleek, single-speed bikes featuring track-inspired frames and riser bars. Fixie bikes are a way to experience riding at its purist.
What is chromoly steel?
Chromoly (short for chromium-molybdenum) is a premium, lighter grade of steel prized by cyclists. It retains steel's legendary durability and shock absorption while shedding unnecessary weight—giving you a smoother, lighter, and more responsive ride.
How do I ensure my bike is setup in freewheel mode, not fixie?
Not to worry, by default the Wythe will come set up in the freewheel. If you'd prefer it be set to fixed gear, pleasecontact usprior to your order shipping.
Is the Wythe Fixie suitable for everyday urban riding?
Yes! It’s built specifically for city streets—lightweight, durable, and effortlessly stylish.
Are your fixie bikes complicated to maintain?
Quite the opposite. The fixie design means fewer moving parts and minimal maintenance—perfect for your busy lifestyle.
Does the Wythe fixie come with brakes?
Of course! We wouldn't ever do anything to compromise your safety so rest assured, the Wythe comes equipped with front and rear caliper brakes.
What are the advantages of a fixie bike?
Fixie bikes are lightweight. This is one of the most obvious benefits of a fixie. Due to the absence of a derailleur, levers, a cassette, and brake components, the bike drops a significant amount of weight. A fixed-gear bike typically weighs less than its geared counterpart.
Is assembly required?
Of course not. We look at professional assembly as a necessity, not a convenience. The bike will not only last much longer, but it also gives us assurances that our customers are safe and experiencing our commuter bikes the way they were supposed to be experienced.
Do you offer a warranty?
Our bikes are battle tested here in the streets of Brooklyn so it's easy for us to offer lifetime warranties on our frames & forks. They won't fail you.
What is your return policy?
We want you to love your bike as much as we do. We have a 30-day return policy - please see our Return Page for full details.
