The MOST IMPORTANT measurement when sizing a bike is your inseam length.
Don't base your inseam simply on your jean size.
The more precise, the better.
1. Stand with your back against a wall and spread your feet 6-8" apart.
2. Place a book between your legs and up against the wall, spine up; raise it until snug against your crotch (this mimics your bike seat).
3. Have another person measure from the top of the book (spine) down to the floor.
A lightweight sporty ride. Perfect for daily commuting and longer distances.
The Lorimer Embraces Unforeseen Challenges
"The Lorimer can be at once your fitness, commuter, city, and flat-bar road bike."
Easy to Buy, Exceptional Service
"By all accounts, buying a Brooklyn online is a pleasant experience."
My experience from ordering to delivery was seamless. The bike is a perfect fit. I am considering purchasing one for my husband because he is eyeing my Lorimer too closely.
Thanks so much for sharing Towanda and we're thrilled you're enjoying your new commuter bike. -Ryan Zagata
I've been waiting for this bike since the summer and finally got it and picked it up before Christmas. At first I had to get used to how absolutely LIGHT it is, particularly considering I've only been riding the heavy New York Citibikes. I rode for 2 hours on it the first day and loved every single second of it -- I felt so hip! I CANNOT WAIT to ride it all over the city! I am 5'4 1/2 and got the medium.
Thanks so much for sharing Carol. We're thrilled you're enjoying your bike. -Ryan Zagata
I have wanted to buy this bike since last summer, and boy, it was well worth the wait. As a 4'11" woman, it's hard to find a bike for my height in a mature style that isn't outrageously priced. It's lightweight and easy to store which is important since I live in an apartment. Look, I haven't regularly ridden a bike in years, but this bike made it so easy and intuitive. Another reviewer said it best when they said "everytime I get on I smile".
Thank you for sharing Sangeetha. This is a common theme with our Roebling and Lorimer, that it is well suited for riders on the shorter side. We're thrilled it worked out for you. -Ryan Zagata
I love this bike with all my heart. Every time I get on I smile. It rides so smooth, the gears are simple and clean and the colour is amazing. If this bike came out in a pastel mini egg yellow or lilac purple I would hands down buy another one.
I originally wanted the white, and was going to order a small or xs bike frame because I am 5’2. But I’m really glad I went in to the Brooklyn bike co dealer in my city (Joe Mammas Cycles in Ottawa) to look and try it out. The white was even more off white than I thought which wasn’t for me personally, and the mint green was just so much more beautiful in person. It turned out I was actually a M frame, and I am so grateful for the staff at Joe mammas cycles were there to help me out and get me on the road. This review might be two years to late but on the other hand I love it just as much as I did two years ago! It would be awesome to see more fun matte colours come out on some of your bikes, I get compliments on the daily on this beauty!
Thanks so much for sharing Julia. Nothing delights us more than hearing a customer is loving their bike after a few years and that it continues to deliver on its promise. -Ryan Zagata
Despite having a couple bikes arrive with damage, the customer service at BB was great. When I finally received the bike, I was extremely disappointed with the bike shop chosen to assemble the bike. They were zero percent interested in helping me and when I indicated that I was there to pick up the bike, the rolled it up and walked off. No help to the car or anything and given the shop had stairs and no automatic doors, I had a hard time getting to the car. Even when I asked about putting the rack on, they quoted an exorbitant price which was essentially asking me to leave. Needless to say, once I found the appropriate allen wrench, I had to adjust everything myself since the seat was way too high and the handle bars weren’t aligned. Accessories were a breeze to install once I looked up online which makes the bike shop quote truly insulting for a 5 min job (4 of which was finding the wrench).
I am 5’2” and full figured and this bike was a great match for me once I made the adjustments. I ride around my moderately hilly neighborhood and round trip to the tennis courts.
I recommend the bike but take pause on whether I would want to go through that experience again. I was hesitant to purchase a bike online and due to that shop, it was with good reason.
Thanks so much for this thorough review Erika. While we're thrilled you're loving your bike, it's apparent our partner fell down in the delivery of your bike and we apologize. While we are continually improving our partnerships, maintaining a consistent experience across all partners remains an ongoing process that we clearly can't rest on just yet. Thanks again. -Ryan Zagata
I started thinking about getting a bike back in February then rented one from my local bike shop to get a feel for riding on NY streets. After the rental, I knew I wanted one of my own but had no clue which would be right for me. I did a bunch of research and kept coming back to Brooklyn Bicycle. By the time I was ready to make a decision, COVID happened and all of the shops closed to non-essential services. I requested a virtual chat late one night and Ryan hopped on a call with me the next day! He answered every question I had with patience and listened to my needs. I bought the Lorimer and I cannot stop riding it! On the rare occasion that I’m not riding, I’m thinking about the next time I can. It’s smooth, not super heavy and fits me perfectly which was difficult to find at 5 feet. I absolutely love it and cannot speak highly enough about Ryan and his team.
Thanks so much for sharing Tiffany. We're thrilled this bike has been a great companion for you. -Ryan Zagata
