Under 5'5"? We feel your pain.

Most bikes don't fit you. We designed three that do.

Real proportional geometry. Not scaled-down men's bikes. The Lorimer, Roebling 15", and Willow 8 were engineered for petite riders 4'10" to 5'5".

What happens when a bike doesn't fit

If you've quit cycling, it's not you. It's the geometry.

Most hybrid bikes are sized for a 5'10" man. Then "women's" sizes get scaled down without changing the proportions. The result for petite riders:

  • Wrist pain after 10 miles. Top tube is too long, you reach too far.
  • Knee pain on every ride. Saddle is too high or too far back.
  • Standover too tall. You can't comfortably stop at a light.
  • The bike sits in the basement, unused, while you blame yourself.

It's not about effort. It's about a bike that was designed for someone else.

Here's what we did differently

Three bikes engineered for petite proportions, not just smaller frames.

When we designed the Lorimer, Roebling 15", and Willow 8, we didn't start with a men's frame and shrink it. We started with the biomechanics of riders 4'10" to 5'7" and worked outward.

01

Top tube length, not just frame size

Shorter horizontal reach so your wrists, shoulders, and back stay neutral. The Lorimer 14" top tube is 21" - 3" shorter than a typical 14" hybrid.

02

Standover height engineered for confidence

Lower top tube clearance so you can stop, start, and dismount without overextending. Critical for traffic, lights, and safety.

03

Components scaled to your proportions

Narrower handlebars, shorter saddle rails, brake levers within reach for smaller hands. Not afterthought adjustments - default specs.

"Half the women I meet on rides tell me they almost gave up cycling. They didn't quit because they didn't like riding. They quit because every bike they tried was sized for someone else. That's the gap we set out to close."

Verified judge.me reviews from petite riders on the Lorimer, Roebling 15", and Wythe.

"I'm 5'2" and have struggled to find a bike that didn't make my back ache. The Lorimer 14" is the first bike I've ridden where my arms aren't fully extended."

"I almost gave up cycling after my last bike sat in the basement for 2 years. The Roebling 15" felt right from the first pedal. I rode 22 miles the day I picked it up."

"I'm 4'11" and used to dread red lights because I couldn't safely stop on my old bike. The Willow 8 standover is so much lower - I can flat-foot it."

The honest comparison
Buying a smaller adult bike vs buying one designed for petite riders

Most petite riders end up buying down a size, not buying right. Here's the difference.

Smaller adult bike
Brooklyn petite collection
Same long top tube, just shorter seat post
Top tube proportional to your reach
Standard 700c wheels regardless of frame
Wheel and tire selection sized to your frame
Adult-width handlebars, brake levers built for bigger hands
Narrower bars and adjusted lever reach
"Women's" decals, same geometry as men's
Geometry rebuilt from the ground up for petite proportions

These are designed for petite riders, not adapted from bigger frames. The Lorimer, Roebling 15", and Willow 8 use proportional geometry: shorter top tubes, lower standover height, narrower handlebars, and saddle and stem options that match smaller proportions.

The Lorimer 14" fits riders as short as 4'10". Your local partner shop fits you in person before you ride away. If the size feels off, they swap it for the right one on the spot.

Yes. The Willow 8 is our premium step-through option in this lineup, with sizes that fit petite riders 5'0" to 5'5". For shorter riders, the Lorimer 14" has a low standover height that's easy to mount thanks to its low step-over, mixte-style frame.
