Our essential commuter bike, the Bedford 8 is a fan favorite for getting around town without working up a sweat. Simple and utilitarian, the Bedford 8 beckons riders to hop on and go. The combination of a classic diamond frame accented by vegan leather saddle and grips, makes for our most sleek city bike. Great question! While both bikes offer a wide gearing range with puncture-resistant tires, the Bedford offers a more relaxed riding position than the Roebling.

Absolutely! The Bedford has all the braze-ons (mounting points) you'd need to add things like fenders, a rear rack, a front basket, or a water bottle cage. No need to worry about a kickstand as the Bedford already comes equipped with one!

Cruising Burleigh on the Bedford

Picked up The Bedford 8 a week ago, and got to say - it's the bees knees!
This beautifully designed bicycle is comfortable to cruise on and also has great speed when kicking up the cadence.
It is also getting a lot of attention around town - one guy said to me yesterday - "OMG - this is gorgeous" and he ain't wrong.

An excellent commuter bike

Picked up my new Bedford 8 speed a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. Solidly built, comfortable, quick, light - an ideal commuter bike for NYC. Easy to carry up and down stairs with a comfortable saddle for 10+ mile rides. Definitely recommend.

Need improved exchange policy

Nice bike, but the sizing was in between on the size chart and I wanted to exchange for a smaller frame. There is no option other than a $200 restocking fee, a third the price of the bike. I can understand a hefty fee for a full return, but there should be options for a size exchange in partnership with some of their partnered bike shops. Disappointing. It is clearly stated on their website in retrospect, but not something I anticipated.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience and for sharing your fondness for the bike. Because we do things considerably differently than other brands in making sure you get a professionally assembled bike as opposed to a bike in a box, we also incur more costs. When a bike is returned or even exchanged, those costs double as we incur the additional cost of having the bike broken down, boxed up, and returned to us. While we are very transparent and public about our restocking fee, it still doesn't come close to fully recouping the costs we've laid out to ensure a great customer experience. We are always looking for ways to improve this and one such way is aggressively encouraging customers to chat with us or schedule a consultation in advance of purchasing. Great bike & great company!

I’ve ridden my new bike almost every day since I received it the beginning of July, and it’s been an absolute pleasure. I use it for my daily commute (only 4 miles one way) as well as most of my errands, and I use the Topeak rear rack to carry everything. It’s a very comfortable bike, and the 8-speed range is perfect for my area where it’s relatively flat with a few small hills here and there. It’s a well built bicycle, with quality components that are simple and robust.

Brooklyn Bicycle Co. was an absolute pleasure to purchase from as well. Everyone I interacted with was very helpful and accommodating. The bike shipped much quicker than I anticipated, and my local bike shop had it ready to go days before I anticipated (less than 5 business days from order confirmation to riding it home!).

I’ll definitely be recommending Brooklyn Bicycle Co. from here on out.

What a ride!

I love this bike! It ride’s so smooth. It’s my first commuter. The gears shift like butter. It’s so comfortable. It shipped so quickly and was perfect from the start. We bought 2 and have already put about 30 miles on them. Taking them to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard this weekend for my birthday. Everyone loves the color and the look. I couldn’t be happier.
